What’s Happening in Shell Lake!!
Well, here we are in the first week of when Day Light Savings Time ends. Kind of hard to see that sun set so early in the evening, but we do get to see the start of each new day a little earlier! Oh well, such is life.
November is proving to be a busy month for us, with Thanksgiving, and the busyness of beginning our thoughts of Christmas, we look forward to additional time we get to spend with family and friends.
With winter just about knocking at our door, and the colder weather upon us, there is a need in the community of warm winter coats. With this thought, the Shell Lake United Methodist Church will be conducting it’s second year of collecting coats. If you have coats you are no longer wearing and would like to donate, please bring your coats to the Shell Lake United Methodist Church at 135 Reinhart Drive and place them in the white “COATS box located in the drive-thru carport. Coats of all sizes are accepted with a special need for children’s and teens. All coats that they receive, will be available in the church entryway for folks to take a look at starting November 5th, and run through the end of the month, or until all coats are gone. Hours will be Wednesday’s from 4:00-6:00 pm, and Saturday’s from 9:00am-1200 Noon. If you don’t have any coats to donate, they will gladly take any cash donations, which they will use to purchase any new or gently used coats in the sizes that are in demand. This is “first come, first serve” event, so hopefully the right coat will find the right person! What a wonderful way for the community to share items that are no longer needed in their family, but would be graciously accepted in another family. The warmth of giving will be remembered for years to come.

I have been attending the Northern Lights choir practices at the Quam theater. I know I had written about them last month, but I must tell you how impressed I am with this group. They will be having their first concert on Saturday December 6th at 4:30pm Honestly, if you want to warm your soul, plan to attend this concert, and be ready to leave with a grateful heart, and perhaps a few wonderful tunes that play over and over in your head.
The Shell Lake Art Center is moving along with its renovation. The grounds are being ready for the new build, as they level and clear away the debris of the old. Stop by and see the new beginnings, take a peek at the rendering diagram of what is new to come. Shell Lake has been waiting for this for a long time!!

With all of the busy activities in November, as we prepare for the holiday season, let us not forget Tuesday November 11th, Veterans Day. It is a day when we honor the brave men and women who have served our country with honor, courage, and sacrifice. Their selflessness, dedication and patriotism inspire us all. Take a moment to remember and thank those who have served, and their families who have supported them. We express our deepest gratitude for their service protecting our freedom and defending our values. Freedom isn’t free, but thanks to our veterans, it is worth a lot. A heart felt “Thank You” veterans, for your services, your sacrifice, and your example. We Salute YOU!
Peace to all, and warmest wishes on Thanksgiving Day! May your Thanksgiving be filled with love, laughter, and all of your favorite traditions. May the warmth of family and friends surround you, your table filled with food, and conversations be filled with joy!
